The myPerspectives curriculum meets expectations for Gateway 2 by offering engaging, appropriately complex texts across genres, organized around coherent themes that support knowledge building and culminate in Performance-Based Assessments. The program integrates reading, writing, speaking, and listening through a research-based design, with strong support for vocabulary, grammar, and evidence-based writing. However, the program includes imbalances in text type, an overreliance on short-form readings, limited discussion protocols, insufficient paragraph-level writing instruction outside of multi-paragraph assignments, and minimal pacing and research guidance. For Gateway 3, the program also meets expectations.
